A Rainy, Moody, and Magical Elopement Day:
M + J's Secret Mountain Adventure
When M first posted on Facebook, looking for a New Hampshire elopement photographer at the last minute, I knew I had to reach out. Between all the comments flooding her post, she was overwhelmed, so I slid into her DMs on Instagram, hoping to make things easier—and it turns out, I did. We hit it off right away, joking about how neither of us were fans of Dunkin' (a crime in the Northeast, I know!) and started planning their intimate mountain elopement.
As the date approached, the forecast showed rain, but instead of stressing, we leaned into it. M + J picked up some cute, clear umbrellas, and we were all set to embrace the weather. Little did we know just how poetic that rain would be...
The Day Begins: Dark Skies & Early Mornings
I arrived at their cozy Airbnb at 6 AM to catch those sweet, quiet moments of getting ready. The mood was just perfect—dark, foggy, and rainy—but M + J’s energy lit up the entire space. We laughed about Dunkin’ and chatted like old friends while they got ready, which made for the most relaxed start to the day.
By the time they were prepped, we bundled up and headed out to Morse Preserve Trailhead. The rain had stopped when we reached the top, and it was sweaty. We were all peeling off layers, but it didn’t matter—because the views were stunning, the fog was so Twilight, and I was ready to capture the magic.
The First Look & Ceremony: A Moment of Pure Poetry
J changed first, and I grabbed a few solo shots of him. His tie had these intricate details that caught the light just perfectly, and the way the rain gently clung to his jacket was almost too good to be true. When M stepped out in her dress, it was total Twilight vibes—her gown, the mist, and the quiet of the mountaintop made it feel like something out of a dream.
Their first look was everything. J’s eyes welled up the moment he saw M, and trust me, I was holding back tears myself! Then came the ceremony. Just as J started his vows, the rain came pouring down again, and it was absolutely poetic. They both laughed and cried as they exchanged their vows, referencing inside jokes, sharing sweet memories, and promising forever.
Portraits & The Champagne Pop!
Once they were officially announced as husband and wife, we took some time running around the mountain for portraits. The mist and fog added an ethereal, otherworldly feel, and we captured some incredible moments before heading back to the Airbnb to celebrate.
Back at the Airbnb, it was time to pop the champagne! M + J admitted they had no idea how to get the cork to shoot off like in those fun, celebratory photos, so I gave them a quick tutorial. After a few laughs (and maybe some failed attempts), we finally got that perfect champagne pop, and they were beyond excited to have that dream shot captured forever.
Twilight Vibes at the Lake
To top off their already perfect day, we headed down to the lake for more portraits. The fog rolling over the water gave the entire scene a magical, cinematic feel. As we wrapped up, I knew this day would be one that none of us would forget anytime soon.
Final Thoughts
M + J’s day was nothing short of incredible. From the unexpected rain to the quiet, intimate moments they shared, their love story unfolded like a beautiful film—raw, real, and unforgettable. These are the kinds of moments I live for as a photographer, and I can’t wait to see where life takes them next.
